Set new standards in FX and was thought provoking as well.
Cons: the two sequels had more bang and less thought. On the whole, though, one of my favorite trilogies.

Easily the most thought proving and action packed movie I've seen in my life. It redefined what a fight scene could be, while operating at a philosophical level rarely seen on the big screen.

This movie (the first of the series) is wonderful. The story is well told, and attention to detail is evident. It deals comprehensively with our concepts of dystopia and eventual salvation. 'There is no spoon', indeed. I think this movie is more than science fiction, it represents an intricate philisophical discussion.

Loved the trilogy, but this one's the masterpiece. What I love the most is the way that a science fiction story makes us question the very fabric of reality. I think that the illusion the matrix represents is very close to the illusion our "real" world is, only there are no machines involved, but something way worse - the ego.

It set a whole new standard for Sci-Fi thrillers. It may have lost a bit of its flavor over the years, but its still engaging and memorable nonetheless. Possibly Keanu Reeves' best role to date.

Cons: You can skip the sequels.

Taken as a whole, it is a fantastic and thought-provoking series.
Cons: Though all 3 movies were good, the worst about the sequels was that they were mostly made for sequels' sake - the Matrix universe was not needing them.

When this movie came out, it was so completely new and unique compared to other action movies—the fight scenes were amazing and the story idea was intriguing.
Cons: May convince people that they can bend spoons with their mind… it’s not going to happen.
