There's a lot of humor in his music, like Tenacious D or Flight of the Conchords, but he pairs that humor with masterful musicianship. It's really beautiful.

One of a kind ...Rock, Jazz, Classical, throw in a few X rated lyrics...you never know what the next track is going to sound like

Frank preached uncompromising original self expression. Exquisite tones, melodies that range from beautiful to obnoxious inventive harmonies,rhythmic patterns that delight,inspire.F-ing genius
Cons: There are more that a few self indulgent weird stinkers in the Zappa repertoire. That said, you will not have to explore the thick jungle of Franks catalog very long to discover something amazing

Musically a brilliant blend of rock and jazz, but also really funny with lyrics that are more for rhythm than meaning. Zappa always makes me laugh and reminds me not to be too serious.
Cons: Weeeeeeird! Best for freaking out.
