Pop genius warped by surrealism. Alternately abrasive and inviting guitar work. They seem to have achieved their creative vision with one hundred percent accuracy.
Cons: That creative vision really isn't to all tastes. Apparently some people take Pixies fandom to unpleasant extremes.

raw and pure maniacs. did I mention Frank's screaming? he does that every once in a while. great lyrics, unique song forms, good gracious I could go on.
Cons: like many great bands before them, they broke up due to conflicting interest... and Kim Deal's not-so-great singing voice and bass playing. I still like her though.

Play "Where is my mind" on guitar and you have proven yourself as a person with a good taste in music...

An extremely influential band. Their sound encapsulated a wide variety of styles. Genius lyrics. Very good live.
Cons: They hated each other too much to stay together. Also, all of the related side-projects are pretty bad.
