When you're as prolific as The Mountain Goats, even when only half of your albums are awesome, that still leaves a huge catalog of terrific music. If you listen to the Sunset Tree or Tallahassee and don't immediately love them, you're not human.

I really, truly, deeply appreciate John Darnielle. The mountain goats have been on my default playlist for a while now: it's the one project that keeps me coming back for more. I even liked "All Eternals Deck" (the newest album) with it's tarot card, occultist theme. There's a song for everyone in the discography, I promise.

Massive back-catalog to sift through. At least 40% of his songs will stick in your head FOREVER, albeit in a good way.
Cons: The last 2 or 3 albums pale in comparison to the earlier stuff.
