Jon Krakauer's non fiction investigation into the last months of Christopher McCandless' life was the inspiration for the film "into the wild" but the book takes a more investigative route and along the way makes attempts to understand McCandless' motivations. Kind of a haunting account that will surely prompt some self evaluations.
