This is a heartbreaking love story that is actually believable, and that's what makes it so good. Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling are brilliant. Protip: Listen for the catchy "You and Me," found by Ryan Gosling on an old compilation of soul. The members of the group Penny and the Quarters, who have earned royalties from the film sountrack, can't be found and have not received their money.
This is not a date movie. Do not watch it with your significant other, unless you are looking to send a message that you want to break up. It is still a good movie though, but very gritty and depressing.
Michelle Williams is hot and talented. The tortured relationship between her character and Ryan Gosling's was hard to watch at times, but it was so real. I related to the toxicity that some intimate relationships endure.
