Portman's performance is great. She looked incredibly like Hepburn in one scene. However, I think the story is not well written. The first half of the movie is too lengthy. For split-personality kind of movie, Fight Club and A Beautiful Mind fetch better surprises.
This is a spectacular and stressful movie. If you like high intensity films where the characters realities are unclear and complex, then check this one out. The cinematography and audio editing are on point and Natalie Portman won best actress for her lead role. The only downside is that you might find yourself feeling pretty stressed out by the end, but it’s quite a ride getting there!
I'm not sure I can compare it to anything, but it is the perfect example of psychoanalysis as embedded in a symbolic narrative. Perfect casting, too. I always think casting is the most important thing relative to "people" in a film, not the acting.
Absolutley fantastic movie through and through. The ending left me with a "wow" on my lips.
An interesting movie with a performance from Natalie Portman. You can see my review at my blog blog.vinko.com/2011/02/27/movie-review-black-swan-2010/
