Hipmunk is a new travel site that takes a different, visual approach to booking flights. They also just came out with a slick iPad app, and to me it gives Kayak a run for its money. Also started by the guy who founded Reddit.

Hipmunk makes it easy to visually navigate multiple travel sites, making it easy to quickly scan for the best flight time and find the best mix of cost w/o agony

Cool travel search website that let's you sort flights by "Agony" and hotels by "Ecstasy".

Booking flights is a headache. Hipmunk improves the process by hiding inferior flights (those that are more expensive or have more connections) and sorting trips by "agony" as well as the usual suspects like price and number of stops.
It lacks some of the killer functionality of Kayak (flexible departure/arrival dates) but I think they are headed in the right direction.
