A visually beautiful film where fantasy and daily life is synthesized into a dreamy adventure between two worlds, first, a husband trying to find a cure to an illness of his wife, and second, same characters are searching for the tree-of-life in Southern-American jungles. I liked the artistically aesthetic touch of the film, well utilized special effects and completeness of the story as a whole.
An awesome soundtrack by Kronos Quartet backs up a multiple-facet storyline. Is Hugh Jackman a really old man? Is he the reincarnated soul of a conquistador? It's a great movie to watch and even better to discuss with your intellectual friends.
One of the most phenomenal films I've seen. Poignant, beautiful cinematography, meaningful, thoughtful, sublime. Not surprised that it flew largely under the radar, however. And that only makes me like it more.
Another great movie demonstrating the visual genius of Aronofsky, the wonderboy of Hollywood (see also Pi and Requiem for a Dream). Three intertwined and moving stories about the eternal fight against the dying of the light. The movie will make you think about your existince, love, beauty, dying and reincarnation.
