The older episodes are hilarious but the newer ones (with Lily talking) are okay. It's still good, but you'll only laugh a little here and there.

So consistently funny, it manages to create genuine conflict and emotion without ever being cloying or artificial.

Truly hilarious. Just got into it and can't wait to catch up. I just wish it were an hour long.

Strongly influenced by Arrested Development and the Office (though perhaps less misanthropic than either), Modern Family is shaping up to be the seminal family sitcom of the decade. Alternately whimsically bright and shockingly dark in its comedy, but refreshingly human and always hilarious.

An original comedy with a good cast and no family-comedy generic story lines

Ed O'neil's penance for Married With Children - gives you the exact opposite attitude toward family than that destructive old sticom.

the kids in this show are soo good!

Very funny sitcom. All the actors do a good job portraying their characters. Normally new sitcoms takes half a season to develop the characters but this one gets you hooked in after the first episode. Highly recommended.

Best comedy on TV today. Extremely funny without having to resort to cheap laughs. Entire cast is pitch perfect.

If you're a wreck after a day of hard work, this makes for light and entertaining television. My fav characters are Cam and Manny.

Great/funny show! It’s almost a little bit like Arrested Development, but not quite, and every episode ends in a sappy ABC-Family kind of way.
tom commented 2 years, 3 months ago
I don't know if I could survive the sappy ending every time. Even with that it's worth it?

I've tried so hard to like this show. My wife, whose taste is otherwise identical to mine, loves it. I just can't connect with any of the characters, I guess.

This show makes me laugh out loud.

Each character is legitimately funny in his/her own quirky way. Strong, intelligent writing. Fantastic acting. Appeals to a wide audience.
Cons: The mockumentary format is a bit hackneyed, but this is the best of the bunch.
mameiac recommended this 2 years, 8 months ago
I came for Al Bundy, I stayed because it is plain funny. With a very large cast to work with it allows for pretty endless recombining of people to get fresh results.
Cons: Hard to knock it, about as mainstream a "witty" show as you could get with a gay couple and a multi-generational, multi-cultural marriage.
ronenmendez recommended this 2 years, 11 months ago
One of my favorites, great characters all of them really. Little Manny is hilarious.
geraldpalmer recommended this 3 years, 1 month ago
Manny and Mitchell are the funniest characters on the show. It may take a second to catch up with the quick wit but once you do, you'll never turn back.
Cons: It's only on once per week. Darn it.

My favorite new show this season. Didn't expect ABC to produce such a funny show. Twists around the family sit-com without throwing out all the basics.
Cons: The dad trying to be cool for his younger kids is a fresh yet annoying take on the typical sitcom buffoon father.
