One of the best-written TV series of all-time, with high stakes and important ideas. Just watch seasons 1-4, because the creator of the show left after that and the quality of the show falls off a sharp cliff in the final 3 years since it's basically fan fiction at that point.

Definitely one of the best tv shows created. Seasons 1-4 and the last season are amazing. The show is all dialogue but is still the most captivating tv show.

Amazing show / series from beginning to end. Not only is the story itself great, but the dialogue keeps you sharp and on your toes. A realistic portrait of what it must be like to work in the White House.

The West Wing is my second-favorite TV series of all time (behind The Wire). The series fades after season four (when Sorkin left), but is still worth watching the whole way through.

Seasons 1-4 especially may be some of the best stuff to ever appear on television. Especially "Two Cathedrals" which is as good as any 42 minutes of anything that humans have ever recoded.

The best TV show ever. No debate. Great writing (Aaron Sorkin), great acting (look at the cast list), great subject matter (white house, politics, real issues), and lots of episodes (7 seasons total).

Simply brilliant topical / political commentary
Showed D and R's could compete on ideas without being personal enemies / demons and destroyers of democracy
Cons: Too liberal for 1/3rd of America
So convinced of its own correctness, it tended to preach to both ends of the spectrum
