Just finished reading for "Novels of Immigration, Relocation, and Diaspora." Really interesting in terms of those themes. Also a quick read and cool use of narrative voice.

Highly recommended for anyone who grew up in New Jersey and/or went to Rutgers. It was great to read an amazing book that featured familiar places.

I will only say this - I had the book recommended to me as a "Confederacy of Dunces, except he's obsessed with sci fi/fantasy". I probably would have enjoyed it more if my expectations hadn't been built so feverishly high.

Dominican life, history, culture; great characters; plenty of foul language, racy sex scenes, colorful, exuberant language.

Really cool book. Also, gives you a sense of some of the lives happening in the outer boroughs of New York City.

I enjoyed this book very much. Fascinating to look into Dominican culture and history through this multi-generational series of stories. Incredible portrait of the troubles of youth across the ages.
Cons: Felt unresolved and disappointed at the end. Without spoiling anything, tragic waste is all that comes to mind.
