Just finished reading for "Novels of Immigration, Relocation, and Diaspora." Really interesting in terms of those themes. Also a quick read and cool use of narrative voice.
I will only say this - I had the book recommended to me as a "Confederacy of Dunces, except he's obsessed with sci fi/fantasy". I probably would have enjoyed it more if my expectations hadn't been built so feverishly high.
I enjoyed this book very much. Fascinating to look into Dominican culture and history through this multi-generational series of stories. Incredible portrait of the troubles of youth across the ages. Cons: Felt unresolved and disappointed at the end. Without spoiling anything, tragic waste is all that comes to mind.
