I use it any time I book a hotel. But as usual, the complainers have the loudest voices. I will say that Trip Advisor along with good research, I've never gone wrong.

Great user-contributed research for nearly any hotel or place you might think of visiting.
Cons: One person's idea of a 'great hotel' isn't always my idea of a great hotel.
