This is my favorite Camus novel. I've seen the type of behavior he portrays in this novel over and over again in our increasingly absurd modern world. Are we getting worse, and more and more alienated?
Camus himself would never accept the "existentialist" etiquette so let's just call it a mix of humanism and aburdism. More fast-paced and meaningful than his "Plague" in my opinion.
Ahhh, I loved this read. It should have been tragic at the end, but... it wasn't. It was liberating. I loved the state of mind it put me in. Great existential icon.
Absolutely engrossing. A definite recommendation. Cons: A lot of people will loudly claim to have read this book in order to look more intelligent. It's really really annoying and takes away from what is a genuinely a brilliant novel.
