Manic, intense, insane. FLCL (Fooly Cooly) is a psychotic masterpiece, energetic. It never takes itself too seriously, it openly satirizes the whole genre AND itself.

If you want to see an anime about a coming of age story of a adolescent boy who has giant robots coming out of his head then look no further!

FLCL falls into the category of "silly anime," and the main character is a "character" herself, if you know what I mean.

I really enjoyed the visual metaphors. The story is somewhat confusing but its basically a coming of age story. Great soundtrack from The Pillows (I think).

Oozing coolness, FLCL is one of my favorite OVAs with a kicking story line, great soundtrack, and awesome name (pronounced "Fooly Cooly").
The animation and story borrow heavily from other animes, and the series, often manic, never quite stays coherent enough to take itself seriously.
At only 6 episodes long, it's not a burden to watch the whole thing and is certain to entertain.
