Would be 5 stars but has some issues
- rating system has in the past been down for prolonged periods
- The more you rate the less likely others will see you as tastemates.
- Links that are broken. e.g. youtube links.

So far, I like this. It's fun.

Nice, but how can I add my recommendations regarding stuff that's not already in your catalog? For example, I wish to recommend a certain local newspaper.. any suggestions?

Easy to recommend and share cool content and products, and has a clean and beautiful interface that pleases my eyes. Love the AJAX interactions, and everything is really smooth when it comes to interaction design.

Although Hunch does have a certain addictive allure, and its usefulness has increased ten-fold when paired with the GPS on a smart phone, it is still surprising to me how commercial and materialistic Hunch is turning out to be in its latest iteration. Hunch has the potential to be a very interesting and powerful experiment, but more and more it just seems like a way to shop for knick knacks.

I think it depends a lot on who you follow. I find mostly interesting movies, books, photos, articles - along with some knick knacks.
marioevon recommended this 1 year, 8 months ago
Hunch gets a recommendation, because I just started using it, and now I'm strangely addicted to it. New media is killing me, but I also have a lot of cool ish to share too.

I am truly enjoying finding interesting things on this site. It rates right up there with Stumble Upon as a way to discover new things I wouldn't have necessarily found otherwise. Another benefit is that it gets me thinking about things I used to enjoy.

used to be good
then they disallowed users to actually do stuff
now it sucks

The "teach hunch about yourself" is engaging with the graphics used to answer each questions, however I'd like to know if I click out of the overlay, will hunch still save my answers? Also, how many answers are there?
hrldcpr commented 1 year, 10 months ago
Don't worry, your answers are saved immediately when you give them.
Most questions have been answered by hundreds of thousands of people, but if you're asking how many questions there are, there's almost two thousand!

Just like The Facebook in that I think you're supposed to share stuff you like with your friends who are on The Facebook but a star robot is your understudy, the icons are bigger icons and there's more whitespace. Okay, I'm done now.

Two things I like about Hunch : how ambitious its goals are and the lack of AI spin. They make something complex look simple.
bretthusbands recommended this 2 years, 6 months ago
great compelling game mechanics. I am voluntarily spending too much time here trying to understand why they work
Cons: too many topics, and no real way of identifying which topics I like on the home page. why would i want to pick whether i like certain sandwiches?
tefflox recommended this 2 years, 7 months ago
Happy place, heavyweight development team, beautiful site, easy to click around for hours without feeling like a lab rat (on twitter).
Cons: Like Facebook, they could do more to make the social experience meaningful.

I've heard that the site is both fun and useful, and that they produce all kinds of interesting reports from their data.

I turn to Hunch regardless of whether I'm bored or not–actually, I'm normally here before I have a chance to become bored. Lots to check out and people to fleck.
Cons: I am also addicted to Hunch, so it might not be for the best...

For all the sites using the word "social" in their marketing copy, it's nice seeing a site that really understands how to harness the social web for a tangible benefit.
