I lived with this person for 25 years. They are real and sometimes no matter how hard you try, they never go away and they never stop terrorizing you.

While reading this book you will recognize people you know. It's chilling. But knowing how they view and operate in the world will help you deal with them.

Fascinating book -- what is a psychopath, how do you recognize them, and what do you do to avoid becoming victimized. Martha Stout claims that 4% of the population in the US (though much less in East Asia, specifically Japan and China) are psychopaths.

What you might not realize is that you already know a sociopath, almost certainly. I only bought the book because I knew that I had run into one. You'll especially enjoy the book if think you haven't met one yet (but of course you have). The one downside is that I kind of got the point after the first couple of chapters and didn't need to read much more.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and its examination of the sociopathic mind.This book kept me interested the entire read; I was most surprised to learn about the different types of sociopaths. Apparently, the Hollywood version of sociopath really does exist but there are other types that are equally present in society (and inflict their own brand of harm on others). I loved this book.

A scientific look at the minds of sociopaths and their varying degrees of functioning within society. Very interesting and balanced. Has some personal anecdotes from family & friends of sociopaths.
Cons: There isn't much you can do about "everyday" sociopaths except recognize the signs and try to avoid negative interactions.
