A flawless series that I have fallen in love with. Riveting action, intense battle sequences, amazing imagery and heartfelt characters. It may seem boring/daunting, but stick with them! You will end up a forever fan.

I am recommanding the book AND the movie. Both masterpieces in their own way. Since I was a child I loved the complexity of the books and when Jackson came around with the movie, which I thought no-one would ever be able to make, I was stunned and fell in love with Tolkiens world allover again. One of a kind and a MUST SEE...

It's one of those classics you must read. Tolkien writes really well, so I don't mind reading and rereading it! ^^ After you're done with the books you can watch the movies too (and compare stuff)
Cons: It can be slow sometimes-lots of background information, you know? (I don't mind though XDD)

A must read. It's a great story about bonding and the ultimate sacrifice.
Cons: It's really 6 books per volume for 3 volumes. It can take a long time to finish the entire series but it's worth it.

Deep, dark and epic. Powerful writing style wears on you after while.
Cons: Few worthy roles for women, sadly. Good and evil are reduced to overly grandiose caricatures.

One of the best books ever written. The prose is beautiful, as is the story, and the world Tolkien created is very compelling.
Cons: Liking this book probably makes you a nerd (if you have a problem with that).

It can become your new hobby... and when you're done, there are great movies to watch.
Cons: I never really got into it.
