Combines an interest in history, gaming and painting. Encourages research, analysis and problem solving. The competition is usually friendly.
Cons: The hobby can become expensive and time-consuming. Rules lawyers (those who argue every minor point and take advantage of any loophole) can spoil a good time.

builds strategic thinking, promotes socializing, lots of customization, good for collectors, several games have expanded into several mediums so there is a lot to explore, has a large community
Cons: Can be expensive and time consuming, very nerdy habit, people in the scene can be a bit elitist (i know from personal experience)
