Just a tremendous command of the English language, from someone who came to English later in life. Amazing wordplay.

Cannot recommend this highly enough. A soft introduction to post-modern literature, and Nabokov is just so excellent at writing. Need to read Pale Fire now...

This is an extraordinarily beautiful book about love and loss, which may require a back story to be palatable to some. It is about possession, love, loss, desperation, but above all, it is a love letter to language and our ability to fully immerse ourselves in poetic prose without fear of being thought precious. Yeah, I said it.

Brilliant portrait of the America, many delicate characters and descriptions.
Cons: Be sure not to be fooled by the narrator of the story, he is still a creep, haha

Only a truly talented and skilled author could construct such a despicable character as Humbert Humbert in a manner which actually induces the reader's sympathy.
Cons: You have to have a strong stomach. It is a confronting read.

A very interesting, unique novel.
Cons: Well, it deals with guys liking little girls. Understandably, not all people will enjoy this work.
