Four "epic operas" indeed. This crazy story of a powerful, gold ring, gods, mermaids and dwarves is being put on by the Metropolitan Opera.
I saw Das Rheingold (the first and shortest opera of the "ring series") this summer and it was fabulous...though a little slow in the middle. Will try to see the rest.
