My favourite artist. I love his use of colour and texture. I have seen some of these paintings in person and I love the way that one can see every brushstroke and blob of paint.

Beautiful, haunting, human.

Like all great art, it makes one feel as though the artist intended to speak to you directly.

I want to go Amsterdam to visit all the museums to see his self-portraits. (I've seen his works at Art Institute of Chicago and the US National Gallery.)
