God this show is amazing. It might be parodying the ridiculousness of the whole mecha genre, but if you just let go and enjoy this show for what it is, you'll be swept away in a flurry of spirals and drills. Watch the show, then watch the two compilation movies, and you'll never forget it. Top-notch Japanese voicework, great animation (especially near the end of the series), and exhilarating music

This is a story of total badassness. Believing in yourself. Coming out of someone's shadow. Standing up for yourself and asking people "WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM!".

Gainax created the defining construction of the Giant Robot genre with EVA, and here they created the defining deconstruction. Each episode spirals out into a larger and larger scope, leaving you wondering at the end of it just how you got from the start to where you are. Comedic, powerful, beautiful; this is a good show, even for people who don't like anime.

High quality animation, over the top action, doesn't take itself too seriously yet still has a interesting plot, many larger than life characters that are still very relatable, really inspiring
Cons: Some may consider it too over the top, flashy, and unrealistic.

Top notch series loved for its pacing, music, and over the top plot. Characters are inspiring and tearjerking all at the same time.
Cons: Sometimes considered too over the top. Many cite it is overhyped.
