Google frequently updates this mobile OS with an over the air update to it's users. Each update is free unlike other mobile OS companies.

I tried it, I love it. It's open source, so anybody can develop for it/with it. Lots of apps, smaller footprint. Plus if it's audio you're into, Android supports more formats (like FLAC). Plus no one is going to tell me I can't do whatever I want on my device. I want a customized operating system, I can have it. And I did! I love freedom!

If you're old enough, you're remember the Windows vs. Mac, VHS vs. Betamax, and within 18 months.. Android vs. iPhone. (disclaimer: I do love my iPhones and my iMac) =)

I like it overall, but it's not my favourite operating system for a phone.

My favourite mobile OS!! It gives unlimited customisation options and features, and has a plethora of apps (of which most is free)

My phone is "old" now but I still love how it runs 2.2. Will definitely upgrade to another Android smartphone when my contract is up.

I've had an Android for over 2 years now, and this summer I used my upgrade on an iPhone4, and it was the biggest mistake of my life. I used the iPhone for less than one day and returned it to the verizon store for an Incredible 2. Android is just the most functional OS out there.

Nice, usable, fast, full-featured, lots of free goodies, and a real operating system you can toy with if you know how. You can watch porn if you want, and no holier-than-thou guy or company will censor you. It's free software that allows you to stay free, not like Apple's freeware- and freedom-hostile, DRM-ridden vending machines.

Near-perfect integration with Google products, open source, remote update and app installation.

It's the OS of the next 5 years.

While I recognize the elegance of Apple products, they come at a premium that I don't care to pay. Android apps give me virtually everything I can do with an iphone now; soon I will be able to remove the 'virtually'.

The Nexus One was the best phone of a generation. Now we need the best phone of the latest generation. It'll run Android, too.

Open-source, highly customizable, neat OS architecture and user interfaces.
Cons: Fragmenting into different versions, high power consumption.

Android is by far the slickest OS if you are looking for a powerful phone that can be highly customized. I love it so much better than my iphone.
Cons: Not as many Fart apps as the iPhone, but it is catching up...

Lots of promise, but has Google bitten off more than they can chew?
Cons: They want to put this on everything from set-top boxes to cheapo cell phones. Doesn't solve the biggest problem with cellphones - software will still be hardware compatible, not Android compatible.
