Usually these are tasty and complex brews that are a marked by an intense hoppiness. The best examples (i.e. Russian River's Pliny the Elder) have a nice balance between malt and hops with the latter taking center stage.
Cons: Can be too intense for novice beer drinkers.

Nice alcohol content so you can have a couple and hit a buzz; strong, crisp taste
