so much to offer - not the size of dallas, houston, or san antonio but still lots going on and tons of things to do. even with recent growth, can still find quiet out of the way places.

It's definitely a busy city, but the culture is worth the traffic. Make sure to hit up Flip Happy Crepes for a mouth-watering meal, Disch Field (Lady Bird Trail) with the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue, and The Hideout Theatre (especially for elimination style improv Maestro on Saturdays).

decent opportunities for tech workers, still relatively affordable to live in south/central/east. Great nightlife and outdoors activities-- the bike scene is booming.
Cons: year round allergies. The summer can be brutally hot. Traffic is getting bad.

As a New Yorker, if I were to live in Texas, Austin would be the place.

Great if you're into the outdoors but still want to live in a city.
A vibrant culture.
Doing very well in a poor economy.
Cons: Can be hot.
Getting more expensive.
