Stay early. The first two albums are absolute classics. It's nice to see a band vary their output, but with some exceptions, everything after Siamese Dream were just exceptions

Siamese Dream was an opus of perfection. It's singlehandedly the album that drove me to learn guitar. I can't say that I am a fan of their later stuff

The Pumpkins have a transcendent and larger than life sound. Their music is also exceptionally versatile from Gish to Machina. Lyrically, there is a very poetic quality to Billy Corgan's words.
Cons: Billy Corgan's bipolar antics have nearly destroyed the Pumpkins' reputation in the minds of many fans (much like Axl Rose did to the Guns N' Roses name).
