It manages to feel both old-school and refreshingly new. Sure, the character archetypes are JRPG standards, but the world is immense and interesting. It's a game that's recognizably a JRPG, but blends in some real MMO influences. And speaking as someone who doesn't like MMOs, this is a great game.

A fantastic, beautifully-designed product line. The attention to detail and forethought put into each item are fantastic, and show what great design sense can do to move the mark forward even on a "basic" item like a wallet. (I went with the Note Sleeve, which is tough to find, but the whole line is pretty great.)

This game always got too much crap, in my opinion. It's actually an excellent game with a great story. The battle system was more complex (not better, just different/more intricate) than that of FFVII, and the script's more melodramatic elements sometimes pissed people off. That said, it was a deep, engaging game with a ton to do. Worth your time!

I'm playing this on iOS and it's a really fun, original game. The animations are excellent and the gameplay is certainly unique. I wish the text scrolled faster during the lengthy dialogue sessions, but that's a minor quibble with an otherwise fantastic game. Worth a try if you're into unusual/puzzle games, especially since the first two chapters are free on iOS.

I'm fond of using this when I'm running outdoors; it's thoughtfully designed and really excellent. Plus it will work with heart rate monitors and sync to the upcoming Pebble e-paper watch!

Great cast, fantastic writing (Ted Griffin and Shawn Ryan), and a really interesting set of characters. It's a shame it never found an audience on FX... though to be fair the name did not help. If you get a chance to see this, watch it. There's something there for everyone. Just be sure to watch it in order.

I was surprised by The League. It's well-written and well-acted, and most impressively it's like Curb Your Enthusiasm insofar as substantial portions of the dialogue are improvised. So ever when it misses a beat you still have to respect it.

Exceptionally well-written and well-cast TV. One of the few truly fantastic half-hour-format shows. It's utterly fantastic.

If the mai tai is made with pinapple juice, run. The reality is that there are only a few viable mai tais. All others are crap.

But a good one? A good one? Oh man that is all kinds of fantastic.

For the money, the best restaurant in SoMa, probably in all of SF. Great interior, spectacular service, awesome cocktails (Valen is brilliant), and the food is absolutely astonishing.
