Hi,
I just got here and I've only been briefly playin around. One thing I've noticed straight away going through the questionnaire and some of the topics is how many times I want the ability to select more than one of the options. Two good examples are music and books. I cannot stick to one genre of music or type of book. I like fiction and non-fiction equally! So I end up skipping these which is a shame.
Could it be possible to allow multiple choice answers? I did have a look to see but I hope I'm not repeating someone else's suggestion.
Thanks

Hi Neilsan,
We've actually debated allowing that many times. The trouble is we really like the one click interface on the questions, so switching to multiple answers would complicate the UI. However, it is something we are thinking about trying to do and a very good suggestion.

How about search within a topic. For example in the topic Which European City Should I Visit there are 9 pages of results....
Uhoh confusion: I was going to say if I wanted to add a result to this list it seems I would have to look through 9 pages of results to make sure I wasn't duplicating someone else's contribution. I went a head and added a result and now when I view all results it only shows me 10 where previously there was 9 pages worth.
Hope this makes sense. Anyway to recap my suggestion is: the ability to search within all the results of a given topic.

Hi Neilsan
Yeah, in topic search is on our to do list.
For the moment, you can sort simulate it by going to the search box
and typing in the city name. In the top section you'll see topics but
in the bottom you'll see items with their topics in brackets. E.g.
when I type in Dublin I see it's second on the items list for Which
European City Should I Visit.
Regarding your other point, I'm taking a wild guess here, but maybe
you were jumping between European Cities topic: (a new topic that a
user just added today that only has 10 results):
www.hunch.com/european-cities-to-visit/all/
and the "Where should I go on Vacation" topic? (which is an older
topic that is much broader)
www.hunch.com/vacations/all/
Just a guess.
Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the info Chris. I'll have a further play around. You may be right about the mix up between topics. Sounds like I probably just got myself turned around.

maybe more easily recycle images used for results?
i added a result to the "which breakup phrase should i use?" topic, which uses the same image for every result. i wanted to keep things consistent so i had to enlarge the image from one of the other results, download it and re-upload it.
visual diversity between various results is good, but might be difficult to achieve for certain topics. some perhaps for some topics there could be a preset image for all results, if not a way to automatically reuse.
either that or force diversity, it felt a bit weird to add the only unique image for a result.

Great idea striatic. It would be nice to have an option like that for "use the default topic image" when you're choosing an image. I actually have not seen too many topics where all the images are the same. Perhaps that was the top image hit, and everyone copied it. I guess its hard to come up with an image to represent a phrase.

How about letting question contributors see how "useful" their questions are to the system?
I'm sure that some questions are more predictive than others, and I'd guess your algorithm uses this measure somehow. It would be great for people who contribute questions to see which existing questions are "better" than others, and thus learn how to write more useful questions. (Of course, the value of a question will change when you change your decision algorithm, but life isn't easy ;-).

yeah we do have a measure of usefulness, we call it info gain. Basically it's how well the question narrows the possible results. We are planning to expose that (along with a lot of the other internal machinery) once we figure out an good design for it.
