I was one of the first members on hunch back in 2009, and I used to love it. Previously, as others have stated, it was a site that gave you answers to questions...for example, "what should I make for dinner tonight" and you would come to an answer by answering various different questions, i.e. 'do you want something spicy or mild?" etc. It was interesting and fun, and I actually learned about a great deal of new things in this way. This new version seems compeltely different to me. It's no longer a decision making tool, as it was previously, but a recommendation site. There are plenty of other sites like this on the web, and I just don't think the new hunch is anything different or special compared to most of the others. I understand that things move on and change and priogress, but it seems as if hunch is now nothing at all like the previous one, and doesn't even have the same goals or vision either. Too bad, as I really did like the original concept.

I can't stand the new layout it's too hard to understand now, when I first came here it was a heck of a lot easier. Actually it's so hard to navigate now I might even decide to leave.

What I don't get is, why did they gut out the old functionality when adding new functionality?
Admitting that they couldn't think of a way to merge the two is basically acknowledging that they fail at user experience design.

There's nothing here anymore. I am unhappy that my Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode topic was nuked. It was a useful tool that actually helped MSTies make a decision that some of the more rabid fans make every night-- which episode of MST3K to fall asleep to!
Today, this so-called "decision engine" doesn't help people make decisions at all. It's become merely a bulletin board for posting advertising. I posted recommendation reviews for MST3K and Cinematic Titanic, but I will not be back, nor will I encourage my friends to join. I may even discourage them from using it.
For posting stuff that I like and writing capsule reviews, I have GetGlue, and I get way more feedback from MY community [500 Facebook friends, 700 Twitter followers] on my contributions there. And stickers for my checkins. You guys aren't even giving out promotional stickers anymore, which is admittedly a moot point-- there is no longer any reason to promote you.

Hunch has two products to offer-recommendations and correlations. It offers neither of those to its users. While hunch is fun to play with, it offers little if any utility for average users.
I guess I should not complain. After all, giving away its two main products for free might decrease profits somewhat.
Is there a way to provide that utility to users without losing money.

Totally agree with everyone. With the old hunch I could ask and get specific, tailored recommendations on what to make for dinner, which book to read next, what study schedule to follow, how to do my hair when I was too lazy to think for myself... Found loads of great books and tv shows and such that way! This new format is completely useless to me.

This really is insanity. A competent UI designer wouldn't just have allowed "old Hunch" and "new Hunch" to co-exist, it would have allowed the two to feed into one another, with people like me, who want to use Hunch as a "searchable directory of stuff", providing new possible answers for Hunch's questions.

Does anyone know of a site that is like the old Hunch? Or an app available for android? Where you can find the most personalized results that do not come from answering random questions over time? Like a quiz! Or a selector!

@sweekles, hey! you migh want to try puzzled.by, I don't want to spam or anything but when I read your comment "I could type in a specific question and get a relevant answer it was interesting, unusual, personalised and HUMAN" you basically described puzzled.by :) I though it would be a shame for you not to be aware of it :) Take care!
