Required viewing. Cops as individuals? Often good people. As cops? NOT your friends. I once saw a lawyer's business card that said, "If you think you're going to say something smart, I GUARANTEE that it's stupid!" If you find yourself wanting to talk to a cop, tell your lawyer what you want to tell the cop.

I can't even guess how much music I've discovered through Pandora. It's not always spot-on with its recommendations, but it learns fast, and tweaking a channel into perfection is part of the fun.

If you want to learn to shoot, this is the place. Founder Jeff Cooper was one of the pioneers of the modern system of handgun shooting, and Gunsite was the first school devoted to teaching it. No matter where you go, you'll be learning techniques first taught at Gunsite. Might as well go to the source.

It's an older hotel, from the days before each room had its own bath, so the rooms can be a little cramped. But it is a beautiful and historic building, right in downtown Prescott, just a short walk from Whiskey Row. Or just drop by for a great breakfast or the live jazz on Friday and Saturday nights.

Great microbrew (try the IPA!) and decent pub food with a slightly granola twist. Cozy bar in the back, and a nice view of the square in the front dining room.

Essentially a Danish Coen Brothers movie. Living in flat and empty farm land seems to produce a certain type of bleak, black humor no matter what language you speak.

Amazing soundtrack. Great concept. Stylish cinematography. Combine them, and you've got a movie I could rewatch anytime, or just leave on in the background.

10 years ago, oldmanmurray.com saved me a lot of money by ripping games apart before I could waste money on them. The writers have gone on to make (very good) games themselves, and now Ben Croshaw is filling their shoes in animated fashion.

Simple, small, easy to use, easy to clean up. And quick, since the aluminum heats up rapidly. The pressure valve mechanism (not present on other Bialetti models) produces a better, more consistent cuppa.

A classic design, with an excellent trigger, 6 or 7-shot capacity, and .357 magnum power. Revolvers are intolerant of mud and grit, but if kept clean are less likely to jam than semi-automatics, and require less practice to operate properly. Practice will improve speed & accuracy, but it is an excellent choice for the gentleman who wishes a gun for self defense without taking on a new hobby.

One of the more frightening protagonists in literature. Just about the time you get the idea that your humble narrator may not be as dumb as he seems, you also realize that he's also quite evil. If you've ever been tempted to underestimate a "dumb hick", this oughta' cure you.

Discovered the brand in an old LIFE magazine from the '40s. I don't know if it still tastes the same, but it sure tastes good. Makes a great Perfect Manhattan. And since it's bottled in bond, the government itself is guaranteeing the purity. Your tax dollars are paying for the service, you might as well enjoy it.
