Even if it was Big Oil, the US government has a long history of going ga-ga and acting like a fool for the Middle East's oil. Truly the behavior of an addict.
Neocons are certainly to blame for much of this debacle. Oddly enough, I suspect the military-industrial complex more than the oil companies. Dick Cheney profited mightily from these wars.
