Cocktails
in Food & Drink
2 ounce rye whiskey
1 teaspon simple syrup
2 dash angostura bitters
Garnish: orange wheel and cherry
If you are using a sugar cube instead of the simple syrup, muddle it in the bottom of an Old Fashioned glass with the bitters and a teaspoon of water. Then add the ice, followed by the whiskey, and stir to chill.

Excellent whiskey drink - if you like whiskey on the rocks and normally avoid cocktails, give the old fashioned a try.
As chris said - bartenders usually make these too sweet.
One of the few great whiskey drinks.
Many bars make it wrong - too sweet, too much fruit etc.
For people that like whisky but want something sweeter without being too sicking.
Fresh and pleasant.
No cons.
If you don't like whisky, you probably won't like it.
I love classic cocktails. Something about a stiff drink that I like.
A little too much sugar at times.
This is a classic cocktail when made by an experienced bartender. It should be very strong with just a splash of soda water.
While I have few complaints about too sweet, I find some bartenders water them down too much.
Classic, tasty.
Great afternoon drink.
Strong.
Decent answer, I haven't had one in years.
Requires a very good bartender. As seen above, often too sweet.
Don Draper. Nuff said.
Can't drink too many because of sugar content.
Nice, no-nonsense shooter with a taste
I don't like fruits
I do like the Old Fashioned...
...but I said I wanted a drink with "burn." The Old Fashioned has simple syrup in it. This was not a good answer.
Whiskey. What else could you need?
one of James Bond's favs.
feeds into your long held fantasy of being an old man
