Great for the product and price. And was one of Nikon's longest pro-sumer cameras on the market.
The D90 just came out and if your looking at this camera, you should just go for the D90 with the CMOS sensor

The D80 is a great camera: it's a good compromise for an interested but inexperienced "prosumer" photographer, and Nikon has a great range of lenses.

The D90 is better than the D80 in just about every measurable way. If you already own a D80, there may not be much point in upgrading but no sense to buy a new D80. Get the D90 instead.

Like all of Nikon's cameras, shake reduction is done in the lenses. The result is slightly better than an in-body system like Pentax's, but you pay for it over and over every time you buy a lens.

Very interesting camera. You even can use AF lenses in fully autofocus mode, compared to D40 and D60.
For that price?

d80 is an admirable camera that is likely to meet the needs of all but the most demanding amateur an hobby photographers.
It's bulky when you have to carry it on trips. Only time I wish I could *settle* for a point and shoot.

Pretty much what I want!
Very much more pricey than I was anticipating.

I like it
but my credit card don't like it!

Might as well go with D90

Wouldn't the D90 fit better?
