The Nikon D700 is a prosumer grade full-frame digital single-lens reflex camera introduced by the Nikon Corporation in July 2008 and manufactured in Japan. It uses the same 12.1 megapixel "FX" CMOS image sensor as the Nikon D3 and is Nikon's second full-frame digital SLR camera.

Very strong feeling with this solid body! Great really for B&W specially when usinf NX2. PRobably the best price quality ratio for what You get.

The D700 offers the same image quality as the D3 in a smaller, more handy package. It's the excellent camera that travels well and costs less than the D3. The built-in flash can command SB-flashes.
The D700's high-speed capture is somewhat slower than the D3's and its max ISO is somewhat lower. In real life, this is unimportant. Some users choose to add a vertical grip (= increased fps)

this is one of the best cameras made, it is a professional level camera not a prosumer level.

D3 image quality, an astonishing see-in-the-dark usable ISO 6400. Prosumer sized body.
Flimsy memory card door. Vertical grip required for max frame rates.
