V.S. Ramachandran explores the brain like a detective, drawing conclusions from clues and inferences.

Lawhead writes about Celtic myth, Robin Hood, Arthurian legend, and ancient Christianity in the Byzantine Empire. Great writing and timeless tales!

A rich, thick stout with a subtle dark chocolate aftertaste. This is a great after-dinner beer.

There is nothing quite like homemade sour cream butter spread on warm, homemade bread. And it's so easy to make, it's almost a crime not to.

This is one of my favorite food blogs. You'll be blown away by the amazing home-cooked meals you can learn to make. Specializes in authentic Indian cuisine, but covers many others as well.

At once bitterly cynical and hopelessly romantic. It's a tri-weekly dose of hilarity and insight

A terrific satire intended to undermine the idea that schools should teach science in chemistry and physics classes, but when it comes to biology, we ought to provide equal weight to the theory that a mythical god created us by magic.
May you be touched by His Noodly Appendage. rAmen.

I love Homestarrunner. It's disappointing the site hasn't been updated in so long.

This is one of my favorite websites. I like seeing how others strike the balance between portability and utility.
Personally, I load everything into a bag and go out as if I might get lost in the woods for three days, but you can't be too careful, right?

If you're in the market for a rugged and useful "man purse", you should check out Maxpedition. They have numerous options for all your carrying-around-a-lot-of-stuff needs.

Pros: Save money on good food. Derive satisfaction from providing yourself and/or others with a nice meal.
Cons: When you get good at it, you'll be frequently disappointed in restaurants as you think "I could have made this better for half the price!"

One of the most quotable and re-watchable movies of all time.

Sick. Twisted. Hilarious. Nothing terribly intellectual about this gross-out humor, but the absurd twists on everything from space travel to Canadian Mounties make for a lot of laughs.

The xaphoon is a wind instrument that sounds like a cross between a saxophone and a clarinet. It is a little more complex than a recorder as it uses a reed, but the music it produces is soulful and rich.

In the right hands, a tin whistle can turn out a chipper reel or a solemn dirge. It is a portable, versatile instrument that is simple to learn and great for beginners.

Powerful lyrics, flowing rhymes, and a strong message. This song embodies the political spirit of rap.

This is one of my favorite movies. Some aspects are so true-to-life, I had a hard time watching it while I had a really lousy job as it made my blood pressure go up too much.

This amazing poem depicts the brutal horrors of war from the perspective of a first-hand observer. It doesn't get much more real than this.

One of my favorite poems. It highlights the futile struggle for immortality against the ravages of time.

Lewis Carroll plays with real-sounding words that seem to almost, but not quite, make sense. It really helps illustrate the connection between how a word sounds and how it feels. The French version, Le jaseroque, is also fun to read.
