Start with the Jane Doe album. Kurt Ballou's guitar-work is simply exhilarating. Singer Jacob Bannon's banshee wail is a welcome change-up from the Cookie-Monster growl of 99% of the metal out there.
Cons: Except for some great breakdowns... not the best lyrics overall. Thankfully Bannon's screams are unintelligible.

The Misfits have something for (almost) everyone, from the hooky "Hollywood Babylon" to the grinding "Earth A.D." Great campy B-Movie imagery. Good fast and slow.
Cons: Stick with the early Danzig-era stuff. The current incarnation is embarrassing.
