Stout
Stouts are very dark, almost black beers, that feature a heavily roasted flavor profile. The most popular dry stout may very well be Guinness (known for being rich and dark with a definitive bitter note and a drying palate feel). Other types of stouts include flavored stouts (with dark fruits, coffee and chocolate), oatmeal stouts, and sweet stouts (with chocolate and caramel flavors- sometimes known as milk or cream stouts).

Good choice if you like earthy/roasty flavors: coffee, dark chocolate, smoke. Great pairing with desserts and curiously, oysters.
Can taste thin or watery if not well made. Can be too heavy for those looking for a casual, easy-drinking pint.

Thick, creamy & heavy beer. Probably the best ones can be found in Ireland (Guinness, Murphy's, etc.)
Too heavy to drink in high numbers, not a very casual pint

Thick and rich. Malty, sweet flavors.
Not a beer to drink for a casual outing, as it can be very filling.
