So addictive. Unlike other dramas, you actually like most of these characters. Set in 1912, it follows the adventures and misadventures of the family of an Earl and their household of servants. A fascinating glimpse into the end of feudalism, and worth watching for the costumes alone.

This is a heartbreaking love story that is actually believable, and that's what makes it so good. Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling are brilliant.
Protip: Listen for the catchy "You and Me," found by Ryan Gosling on an old compilation of soul. The members of the group Penny and the Quarters, who have earned royalties from the film sountrack, can't be found and have not received their money.

When I walked into Caribou Baby with my newborn, I immediately felt a sense of relief-- they can help me here! I came for a nursing bra (Blue Canoe organic cotton FTW), but stayed for the private demo of different types of baby slings and babywearing options. The owner is awesome and the store carries everything the baby of a hippie mom like me might ever need.

This place uses organic ingredients, has super-snappy service, often offers free samples of pita chips, and their pomegranate mint lemonade is to die for. I always order the falafel on whole wheat pita, but they offer grilled chicken, hardboiled egg, and roasted eggplant sandwiches too, as well as salads and desserts. The pitas are packed with salads and sauces.
Protip: extra pickles are free.

I normally am not so into fantasy, but this addictive series provides days and days of escapism without ever getting boring. Each book is thousands of pages long, and there are 5 books! Memorable characters, unexpected plot twists, and moments of hilarity. Set in a medieval world with just the right amount of magic.

brilliant but accessible post-modern novel. British writer. Each chapter is a different genre, including history, travel, detective, fantasy and sci-fi, but they all interconnect at the end.
