Must read profile of potential GOP candidate Michele Bachmann. The New Yorker goes deep as always, and analyses the the candidate's personal and ideological history. Great insight on modern fundamentalist Christian politics in America.

I really enjoyed this essay, discussing the potential innovations in publishing and content. Many interesting examples of people experimenting with time and narrative out of the old confines of books.

A great writer. Graham's careful and intelligent handling of important issues leaves you sure that he is probably right, and even if wrong, at least incredibly thoughtfully so.

Had been meaning to read this for a while. Great book. Gives you the historical and legal context to understand current developments in intellectual property and the ownership of culture. Lessig is a genius.

Great book about the history and algorithm of Google. Many funny never-before-seen anecdotes. Read about how the froogle team's algorithm was perfect except for returning "Garden gnome in running shoes" on eBay for the search "Running shoes." Their solution? An engineer bought and prominently displayed the gnome, rather than add an edge case.

I recommend this book to anyone who this the analytic tradition is arcane and overly mathy, which is so far from the truth. "Is there any knowledge in the world which is so certain that no reasonable man could doubt it?" A fantastic survey of the philosophic questions and how they can be dealt with.

Great narrative story telling about the financial crisis and the weirdos who predicted it. If you liked this, read Lewis' Liars Poker.

Livingston is a great interviewer, and hones in on some very important and under discussed problems and pivots in these well known start ups. I love how PayPal's competitive advantage was that it realized 90% of its business was keeping fraud low enough to make a profit, and that their startup and corporate competitors never realized it.

Just reread this, always a good read. I love the absurd lack of self awareness in the narration.

An insightful and captivating look at the life of George Price, who did brilliant work at the intersection of game theory and biology (Price equation). It gives a balanced account of his extraordinary life, with the ups and downs, the egotism, the eccentric altruism, the genius, and the stupidity. Highly recommended.

Why confuse coffee cups when you could have your own? Great idea if you work in an office and confuse your drinks from time to time.
