Sprawling, laborious, beautiful, difficult. Probably the story of any guy with a tough father, but its about much more

So good. Appropriate for our time (except the whole communism part).

Poster says it all: it's Abrams's take on Spielberg. Super fun!

can I give it 100 stars for the score? Reznor + Ross = perfect

Old territory and too reliant on two doctors who have built their careers on vegan research. Still, a good intro to the discussion on sustainable, locally-produced diets.

Unravels about two-thirds in, and the ending is disappointing, but Stephenson's take on the future of the Internet (think: World of Warcraft plus coolness and minus the tedium) is worth reading.

Fitzgerald's writing is timeless and vivid. Read it once for the robust prose, then re-read with a guide to see how deep the imagery goes.

Cannot recommend this highly enough. A soft introduction to post-modern literature, and Nabokov is just so excellent at writing. Need to read Pale Fire now...

Absurd and wholly delightful.

A predicate for any discussion about politics, based on Orwell's many experiences with political upheaval. If you haven't read this, set aside a weekend.

A bit gossipy but the writing is absolutely superb. You'll probably tear through it.

Real life fantasy. Read this years ago and wisps of fantastic, realistic pieces occasionally come back to me. Just added it to my re-read list.

Incredible breadth of topics. DFW jumps from hilarious absurdity to painful humanity while writing about Kafka, lobsters, and porn award shows. Must-read.
