All the music on Jamendo is licensed through Creative Commons or Free Art, so all songs and albums are free to download. There's a wide variety of music on here, with ratings, reviews, tags, recommendations and genre-specific radio stations. If you like an artist they accept voluntary donations; I love that the donation option is built into the (Android) app.

Using herbal medicine to meet your own health needs is rewarding, economical, and easier than you might think. This kit is a great starting point because it offers actual hands-on experience. Contains the ingredients and instructions necessary to create your own tincture, salve, infusion and syrup. The website also offers free online courses and other resources for herbal medicine.

Learn how to do almost anything with a poncho, and possibly increase your chances of surviving the zombie apocalypse. You can buy a copy, but they're available free online. Search "FM 3-05.70" for the most recent version.

The follow-up to Angela's Ashes, it's as unflinchingly honest, with the same dark humor, charm and warmth. I found it as engrossing as the first but for slightly different reasons. I particularly liked being reminded that, while cynicism is always the easy choice, earnest perseverance can and does pay off.

A fun way to exercise. Quality makes a big difference with these and Needak makes the best quality rebounders I've found. I've had mine for several years and haven't had a single issue with it.

Useful stuff. It's antiseptic, antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal. I use it topically for first-aid and put it in a diffuser to help treat colds and flu. I've also used it for laundry and in the dishwasher (food grade). Just be careful with it around your pets; it can be toxic to them if ingested.

A natural calorie-free sweetener. It's readily available in the US now, and even comes in those same little packets as the artificial sweeteners, so there's no excuse not to use it. It can also be used in baking. It has a negligible effect on blood sugar and there are some studies which indicate it may actually help increase insulin production.

In my opinion the best all-around oil. Useful for cooking, skin care, hair care, pets, first aid, Ayurveda, etc. Make sure to use cold-pressed extra virgin; it makes a difference.

Quirky story about synchronicity, society and the nature of reality. Some great insights and clever wordplay here, and I liked the playful way his philosophy was laid out even while disagreeing with some of it. I did have a hard time not thinking of this book as Tom Robbins Lite, but that could be a good thing if you're in the mood for that style and want an easier read.

Classic bunny epic in the vein of Lord of the Rings. Not just for kids, it's more profound and less mockable than some might assume. The invented vocabulary is great. "Tharn" would be perfect for a Frightened Rabbit album.

A great oil to cook with. It has the highest smoke point of any cooking oil and it will tend to absorb and magnify the flavors of the foods it's cooked with rather than impart its own flavor. It can be directly substituted for olive oil and has the same or superior health benefits.

A masterpiece. A really, really long masterpiece. Enough historical accuracy to be valuable in that sense with a pretty progressive outlook for its time. Start with the island's formation, then play Comte de Saint Germain and follow the generations for a thousand years. Michener manages to create characters which are moving and memorable even within this vast scope.

Humorous civics lesson in old-school textbook format. The same humor as The Daily Show on somewhat less of a short leash.

I can't get enough of this stuff. Spearmint is my favorite. I have tried and failed to replicate it.

This has made a significant difference for my lab's hip issues. It's noticeably less painful for her to go from sitting to standing and the limp she had when I adopted her rarely appears anymore. A bit expensive but well worth it for the increase in her quality of life. Highly recommended for any dog with joint problems.

Well-researched, balanced exploration of the unexplained written in an engaging journalistic style. The author delves into ten aspects of the paranormal in a rational manner and makes a convincing case for removing the prejudices blocking the serious study of anything with "paranormal taint." You won't find any answers here, just a lot of sourced information and fascinating, valuable questions.
