Thanks for the rec, today was the first really cold day of the year here in NYC and I was reminded that I am in great need of some warm winter socks.

Frequently where I wind up shopping on the weekends- best produce you're likely to find, same for seafood. Good selection of everything Asian, good if you're in a western mood too. Little 1/4 pound American Kobe beef burgers are a summer favorite. Also a great selection of nice Japanese dish ware.
Best suited for the hard SF crowd, since there's a lot of space travel, aliens, and such. But the points he's making are really about the nature of communication, imagination, and the essence of truth. Plus I had to look up tons of words, because getting the delicate shades of meaning was essential to really understanding the story. That's a good thing.
Great story -it's a huge 19th century morality play, mixed with politics, plus more than a few romances. One of the worlds greatest heroes. I've read the kindle version (not the world's best translation), and seen the Gererd Depardieu mini series (English subtitles), both are quite wonderful. The book is long but totally worth getting all the way to the very last page.
I've been reading about it since it was first announced and can't wait to see it. Joss Whedon and buddies from previous efforts-plus Shakespeare to provide a plot and witty dialogue. It's possible that it wouldn't work, but that's a very, very small possibility.
I've had this knife since 2003, and it's the one I always go to first. Great for any task you'd use a chef's knife for. Holds an edge well, important because I am somewhat lazy about getting my knives sharpened. Handle has held up well in spite of abuse.
